Why is it a must see?
Tigre is the charming, unconventional neighborhood of Buenos Aires that you don’t want to miss out on. Just a train ride away from the historic Pink House and shopping in Palermo you’ll find a peaceful, natural haven that has quite a bit of history itself.
Watch for our overview:
Strolling along the river you’ll see families and couples sharing mate, the ceremonial national drink of Argentina, rowing teams on the water from one of the over twenty rowing clubs located in Tigre (it is after all the rowing capital of Argentina), beautiful museums sharing the history of the region, an amusement park, incredible helado (ice cream) and much more.
The main town of Tigre is perfect for a day or 2 - 3 day trip. If you venture out to the islands you’ll find communities connected only by boat, almost like going back in time to a simpler, more natural life. You can view this incredible community from the water on a boat ride, kayak or rowboat, and even venture out and have lunch and a stroll at one of the many islands or swim in the river at one of the beach clubs. Summertime here is December through March, and on the weekends it can be quite busy due to the influx of Buenos Aireans escaping the city, however during the week you’ll find a peaceful getaway.
Boat tours can be bought in the city on the day as well- for just 700 pesos a hop on/hop off style boat will take you into the islands and back.
(this is through: Interislena, from 7 am - 7 pm daily)
You could also rent a kayak or row boat for a day, or take a scenic tour with dinner on a catamaran (this is through: Catamarans Delta).
You can’t miss out on the colorful market Puerto De Frutos. Charming stores of home goods, useful trinkets and one of a kind items are found in the many shops around Puerto De Frutos. I find it impossible to walk away without discovering something new I didn’t realize that I had to have. It is open daily until around 5 or 6, however all the shops are open on the weekends and fewer will be open during the week. In the city there also are great restaurants, a casino, shopping, beautiful villa style hotels and more. The day or weekend trip will whisk you away from the heartbeat of the busy city to the bliss of a peaceful piece of mind.
There are many museums within Tigre but the top 3 to visit all within walking distance along the rivers would be:
Museo de Arte (must see- even if from the outside!)
Museo Naval de la
Museo de la Reconquista

Museo De Arte
How to get there:
Taxi/uber is the easiest way. From downtown Buenos Aires you can expect to pay around 3,000 Argentine pesos (about 8 USD) each way.
However this is the perfect time to try out the public transportation! The trains in Buenos Aires are nice, clean, AIR CONDITIONED! and the most scenic train in BA actually takes you right to Tigre.
Tren de la Costa (Beautiful ride! The stop is right next to Puerto de Frutos)
Mitre (Tigre city center)
